The Journal of Urology has recently published a late-breaking abstract confirming that the Rezūm Water Vapour Therapy provides effective BPH symptom relief that remains durable for a confirmed 5 years.
The Rezūm system was approved by the FDA in 2015 and, since then, clinical data have shown that the Rezūm Water Vapour Therapy is safe and effective in relieving lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) due to Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) without compromising sexual function. The goal of the treatment is to relieve BPH symptoms to improve patient quality of life.
As reported by the Journal of Urology on April 1st 2020: “Treatment-arm results show that the minimally invasive water vapor thermal therapy offers significant improvements in LUTS, QOL and flow rate sustained through 5 years.”
Although the minimally invasive office or outpatient procedure is relatively new, its effect on BPH symptoms has been the subject of numerous studies due to its impressive positive results.
Patients often note an improvement in BPH symptoms within a few weeks of undergoing the treatment and after 3 months, most individuals are able to feel a complete relief from BPH symptoms.
The recent clinical study shows that patients can continue to feel symptom relief for a 5-year period – and more.
In June 2019, renowned urologist Dr. Kevin Zorn performed the first ever Rezūm procedure in Quebec at our SanoMed Prostate Clinic in Montreal. Since then, many more Rezūm procedures have been carried-out.
SanoMed Prostate is proud to offer this revolutionary treatment for the effective relief of LUTS symptoms caused by Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia, and we will continue to offer the best minimally invasive treatments for our patients for years to come!
